Access the right health service

We want you to be able to access the right health service when you are unwell so you and your family get the best care to help you get better quickly.

The information on this site will help you choose the right care for you and your family’s needs. It explains the different local services, what they do, and what you should use them for.

As well as care and treatment the NHS provides you with, there are a number of simple things you can do in the comfort of your own home to make illness and injury less likely in the first place. Read about them on our self-care page.

Your local pharmacist is able to supply medication including flu vaccinations, and provide treatment for some minor conditions, while GPs can advise on illnesses and injuries that won’t go away. There a number of options if you need urgent care, which can be found on this site.

If you’re unsure about the right care, you can call NHS 111 at any time and the fully-trained staff will advise you over the telephone.
